Project Objective

To enhance the analytics capability of the customer's flagship product, that presents information based on industry compensation surveys to global clients. This required redesigning the report generation engine,and enhancing product usability by improving its self-service capability and functionality in order to increase customer loyalty.

Customer Challenges

The Customer wished to make its analytics system globally accessible by web-enabling it to make it client hardware independent, and have it provide consistently reproducible results incorporating the following features:

• A zero-footprint thin web client that can be accessed by any global user via a browser
• Decrease the amount of time required to transfer client results to the Analytics data warehouse.
• Develop a globally accessible, unified tool that includes reporting capabilities currently available across independent tools
• A system that is client hardware independent, and that provides consistently reproducible results.
• Perform ad-hoc calculations within the reporting interface, enabling users to see the data from different perspectives

Trigent's Solution

• Trigent replaced the existing reporting solution with a Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) solution with a Rich Internet Interface (RIA) front end built using Ajax controls. Supports a large number of clients and in-house users
• Offers secure IP based user security, prevention of multiple simultaneous logins
• Supports 70 different reports and building future reports without code changes
• Provides different types of report extracts - html, pdf, xls etc.,
• Supports both on-line execution and off-line execution of the Reports
• Offers user configurable reports with minimal effort.

Client Benefits

Using the new Microsoft SSRS based solution this customer product reduced the complexity of work for business users who reduced their reliance on programmers. It also provided them a user friendly solution where they could configure reports themselves. The reporting solution was scalable and all users could simultaneously use the solution over the web without degradation in performance.
